Elissa Moran, MCD Executive Director
Community Ties: Elissa has been providing Deaf services in Maine for more than three years, married to her Deaf husband for ten years, and has been a Licensed Sign Language Interpreter in Maine since 2005.  She is  currently enrolled at USM as an ITP student.  Elissa is a member of the Hard-of-Hearing community and communicates in spoken English and ASL.

Amy Sneirson, Esq., Civil Rights Program Managing Attorney
Community Ties: Amy has been a practicing attorney for more than a decade.  Her experience includes time at Maine's Office of the Attorney General; a lengthy tenure with the law firm of Murray, Plumb and Murray, where she specialized in civil rights claims under the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and federal and state special education laws; and private practice and Attorney General's office service in Missouri.   Amy is learning ASL by taking sign language lessons, and her skills are progressing (slowly)!

Beth Gallie, Esq., Civil Rights Program Attorney
Community Ties: Beth has been working for more than eight years at the MCD advocating for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing of Maine, using both her legal and advocacy skills.  Beth communicates in spoken English and ASL.

Ray Nagel, Operations Manager
Community Ties: Ray has some 23 years of management experience including 12 years in the non-profit sector. His latest post was at the Maine Veteran's Homes, where he served one year as the CEO.  Ray comes to MCD with a enthusiastic approach for learning more about Deaf culture and the needs of the Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened, and speech impaired communities of Maine.

Darleen Winship, PSG and VGC Coordinator
Community Ties: Darleen grew up in Maine and graduated from the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf in 1997. Darleen’s professional background includes a stint at the University of Southern Maine teaching American Sign Language, and a four-year period in Florida focusing on Deaf Services and community education.  Darleen lives in South Portland with her husband, local Deaf artist Daniel Winship, and their young son.  Darleen is a member of the Deaf community and communicates in ASL and spoken English.

Geoff Tibbals, Association Assistant and Equipment Program Specialist
Community Ties: Geoff is a recent graduate of USM and has experience working with several different Non-Profits in Maine. While at USM, Geoff took ASL 101 with Guillaume Chastel. Geoff is excited to work with the Deaf community and learn as much as possible about their unique culture and language.

Anne Jameson, MBA - Director of Finance
Community Ties: Anne joined the MCD team in July 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Business Administration from Thomas College. Her more than 15 years of accounting experience includes governmental accounting with Maine Revenues Services, State of Maine Department of Audit and the Department of Health and Human Services, and public accounting with Runyon Kersteen Ouellette, specializing in non-profit accounting. She currently serves at Treasurer for Fiver Rivers Arts Alliance in Brunswick, Maine. Anne is very excited to be a part of the deaf community! She is enrolled in ASL classes and looks forward to being able to sign fluently. Outside of her life at MCD, she enjoys following the sports and activities of her fourteen-year-old son and eighteen-year-old daughter. She and her husband, Glenn, live in Bowdoinham where they are renovating their 1880’s house and post and beam barn and raising their children, cats, dogs, bunnies, ducks, chickens and, maybe someday, goats.

Jennifer Welch, Equipment Program Manager
Community Ties: Jennifer is originally from Kentucky, where she graduated from the Kentucky School for the Deaf before moving on to both Gallaudet and NTID. She is currently enrolled at USM as a Linguistics major in the Interpreter Training Program. An active member of the community and a Maine resident for the last 13 years, Jennifer is also involved with Deaf Women of Maine, the Maine Deaf Film Festival, and USANA. She enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hiking, camping and biking. Jennifer lives in Standish with her husband Matthew, two sons and two rescue dogs, one of which is deaf!

MCD Independent Contractors
Gina Pitcher of the Greater Bangor area and James Gardiner of the Greater Augusta area have both contributed to MCD for several years.  Their Peer Leadership skills allows them to provide a social setting for individuals that do not use traditional sign language.  Both Gina and James grew up Deaf.  Their background and experience provides keen insight to visual and gestural communication.
